A Few Ways To Be More Creative With Your Blog

Blogging is something that is incredibly creative anyway. But lately, I've been craving being a little bit more adventurous with my corner of the internet. I don't like to feel stagnant or that I'm stuck in a rut with what I'm doing. So I'm always trying to find other ways that I can push myself and broaden my horizons. Here is a few ways that I've been trying to get a little bit more creative with my blog lately.

PHOTOGRAPHS

The area that I'm always the most pleased with in my blog is my photographs. But just because I'm happy with them doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't take pictures because it's my craft and it's something that I'm incredibly passionate about. Even if the picture never sees the light of day. It's still fun to go through the process and practice my camera skills, knowledge and then discovering new editing techniques. Something I've been trying out lately is portrait images, for so long I've stuck to a landscape. There is no real reason for this but it's been my safety blanket. Even doing something so small as turning my camera the other way around has totally sparked my passion for exploring other ways of photographing something.

PROPS

I've always been a fan of styling my images and adding in props where I can. The great thing about being a serious lover of beauty, stationery and homeware is that they can double as new props in images. Of course, it's all too easy to get carried away then your images become cluttered. But a good prop selection can enhance the most simple subject matter so much.

WRITING

Even though I blog every day I don't find writing easy at all. Sometimes the words flow out of me naturally and I find myself rambling on for paragraphs. And then other times I find myself staring at my keyboard for 20 minutes and not managing to think about anything. One of the biggest things I've found help with writing is reading more, reading anything. It's something so obvious but it can help so much with writing style and vocabulary.  It can also help broaden our minds with what to write about also and can subsequently lead to thought provoking content.

GRAPHICS

You might have noticed in a few of my latest posts. I've been really enjoying putting together graphics. It's something that's always been of interest to me and in my final year of university, I got somewhat to grips with creating them. I find picking a colour palette and type so incredibly satisfying that it's something I hope to continue to work on. It also gives me a chance to work on hand lettering so that I can possibly add it into my own photographs.

DESIGN

Blog design and branding is something that I not only get far too excited about but it's something that I love to work. Your blog design, as well as your images, is really your first impression in the online world. So it's important to make things as awesome as you possibly can.  That doesn't mean you have to hire a fancy designer or have a ton of HTML knowledge. It's a lot easier to create an awesome design on your own than you might think. You can really put your personality into your design in the most simple ways. Whether it's the colour of the font that you use or your logo. It's also one of those things that you can constantly evolve and work on without really disturbing anything else.

SOME IDEAS TO TAKE AWAY

Here are some super simple ideas to get a bit creative with your internet space:

  • Make yourself a custom logo.
  • Take your images in a different format.
  • Get a new background.
  • Play around with your sidebar, add new widgets that can be helpful for people.
  • Try writing about a topic that scares you.
  • Add more than one image into a post.

Do you have ideas of how to be more creative with your blog?
