A Use Things Up & Declutter Challenge For You

The whole blogging world seems to be on a decluttering kick at the moment and whilst I'm by no means a minimalist [I just love the aesthetic]. I want to live a life where I don't have so much stuff and clutter. I hate the fact that things can so easily go off, become wasted or not be used as much as they could be. So whether you're a fellow blogger or just a seriously beauty lover here are some easy ways to clear out and use up your collection in a fun way rather than feeling like you've lost something you adore.

GIVE THEM AWAY

My sister and my best friend absolutely love it when I greet them with a bag of beauty products. And it's such a nice feeling to be able to give things away that you're not getting as much use out of as you possibly could be. I find used items are much better going to friends if they're hygienic enough. But if there are things in your collection that have never been used and you know that you're probably never going to get round to them then give them away. There are a lot of charities out there that accept makeup and general beauty products for women who are in need and I can't think of a better cause to give to.

CLEAR OUT AND PUT THINGS IN ORDER

Pulling out all your products and giving them a good clean is always my first point of call when on the quest to use things up. It helps so much to give you a good idea of what you've got, how much you can keep and then how much you might be able to pass on. Cleaning beauty products might seem like a labourious task but if you're going to be passing it on to someone then it's really important. I find a baby wipe is fine for the majority of items but you can get antibacterial sprays for makeup.

A FUN LITTLE CHALLENGE FOR YOU

The thing about beauty products is that they're meant to be fun and of course it's completely trivial to feel weighed down by the amount of products you own but I'm sure if you're a beauty lover we all know the feeling. So here is a fun little challenge for you to use things up if you're not giving them away;

  • Wear a different lipstick everyday.
  • Get in the habit of applying products like hand cream and lip balm.
  • Put all your products that need using up first in your makeup bag.
  • Stop putting things off for best.
  • Regularly rotate your stash, once a week or every fortnight I find is manageable.
  • Spray on a different perfume everyday and make sure they're stored out of daylight so they're not going to go off.
  • If you've got multiple brushes trying using different products daily [It's too much of a faff if you don't].

Do you have any tips for decluttering?
