Fresh Faced & Festive

Even though I'm not the most festive person I can't resist the pretty makeup looks that come hand in hand with the season. I've been switching up my beauty products accordingly but making sure the look is still day time appropriate. I've tried to steer clear of the stereotypical red lip and go for the more deep pinks and plums this season. So here is my fresh-faced whilst still hitting the festive quota makeup menu.

BASE

INIKA ORGANIC PURE PRIMER WITH HYRALURONIC ACID*: My skin has been horribly dull lately so I've been relying on something illuminating without the need for glitter or shimmer. This primer is incredible for making the complexion look plump and juicy as well as preparing the skin for any base application. This isn't the best primer for helping prolong the wear time of your base, but it's perfect for making your makeup look fresher for longer and creating a smooth surface for a perfected look.

YSL LE TEINT TOUCHE ELCLAT: When I want my complexion to look almost unbelievably unhealthy I always reach for this foundation. I always describe the YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation as a good nights sleep in a bottle. Once buffed and blended into the skin it's beautifully radiant without being too obvious and even though it's incredibly lightweight it's easily built up in the areas that you need the extra coverage. It's not got the most incredible lasting power, but it's still better than you might think considering how dewy it is. The only downside to this base is that it's highly scented which doesn't bother me and my skin but for others it might be an issue.

RIMMEL WAKE ME UP CONCEALER & 17 STAY TIME CONCEALER: This concealer duo is a staple in any makeup look that I create. The Rimmel option helps to combat any dark circles and brighten up any dull areas without creating a reverse panda effect. Even though it's illuminating it doesn't scrimp on the coverage or crease after a few hours. I've raved about this full coverage concealer from Seventeen many times, but it's got an incredible formula with great coverage for a high street option and it covers up blemishes with ease. It doesn't cake or dry up around blemishes either which often makes them look worse than they did before.

CHEEKS & LIPS

HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BLUSH IN MOOD EXPOSURE: Even though I don't think these blushes deserve all the hype that they receive in terms of quality. The shade range is stunning, especially Mood Exposure which is an absolutely beautiful colour. It's a great berry shade for those who are new to wearing deeper hues on the cheek. It adds light and definition to the skin without being overly glittery or shimmery.

MAC MINERALIZE SKIN FINISH IN SOFT & GENTLE:  If there is ever a time to wear this product it's the festive season. Soft & Gentle is a cult classic highlighter and it's truly stunning on the skin. You can either wear this in a more subtle fashion or build it up to an intense finish although you might resemble a glitter ball. Lightly dusted over the top of the cheeks, bridge of the nose and brow bone instantly adds radiance to the complexion with just a little bit of sparkle too.

REVLON MATTE BALM IN SULTRY: This year has been the year of the brown based pinks Sultry is the perfect shade to go for if you don't fancy going for a traditional red. The Matte Balms have a lovely formulation and unlike the name suggests they are actually more of a satin finish on the lips whilst still being incredibly long wearing. They are housed in lip crayon housing so they are a super easy to apply and get a precise finish without the need for a liner.

EYES

TOO FACED CHAMPAGNE SHADOW INSURANCE: This is my go to eye primer for any makeup look as it smooths out the lid whilst counteracting any veins and discolouration. It's also the perfect champagne shade and it's great under shadows or a pencil to really amp up the intensity of the colour and keep it crease free for the entire day.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY COLOUR CHAMELEON EYES CHAMPAGNE DIAMONDS*: Ever since I received this a couple of months ago it's barely left my eyes. Even though on an everyday basis, some may say it's a little too much glitter but as it's the festive season that phrase doesn't exist in my vocabulary. This is a completely fuss free eye look as you simply scribble it all over the lid and then take a fluffy brush and blend it up and out. It lasts incredibly well on the lid but doesn't dry out and flake and fall down.

MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA: This has been my go-to mascara lately. It provides such a pretty lash look, long and fluttery with just the right amount of volume and separation. Even though it's not a waterproof formula it lasts all day and doesn't flake or smudge on the lids even if they are slightly oily. It's  incredible for the price and in combination with the Shu Uemura lash curlers. This has been giving me a mascara look that rivals my beloved YSL Babydoll but at a 1/3 of the price.

EXTRAS

H&M NAIL POLISH IN ROSE UMBER: Dusky pinks are my new go to for my nails. No matter what the season they work so well. This shade from the recently revamped H&M beauty line has been something I've been slicking on time and time again. It's opaque in two coats and lasts a good few days without chipping. Obviously, it's not as good in terms of wear time as my beloved Essie polishes but for the price, it's still pretty awesome.

ACCESSORIZE GLITTER POLISH IN SWEET SIXTEEN: December is the month of the accent nail and this shade from Accessorize is absolutely beautiful. Either on one nail or all of them, it's a glitter that isn't too garish. It's got multiple shades all mixed in so can be worn with an array of colours underneath, a white would be absolutely perfect.

What makeup look will you be wearing this Christmas?
