Hair History

I'm an absolute sucker for knowing what kind of hair styles & colours people have had throughout their lives, it interests me far more than it probably should. Until I was 19 I never coloured my hair and then went a little crazy and I'm pretty sure I've had most shades now so here is my hair history.

I was born with a lot of hair from what I've seen, on my baby first picture I've got a full head of hair and from that point on had the nickname of tufty toothbrush.

My hair pretty much remained in this style up until I was 13, my sister & I always had similar cuts. Also yes that is a real rabbit I'm pushing around in my Minnie Mouse push chair, the obsession with rabbits has been strife from a young age.

This is where it starts to get interesting, my scene fringe was in full swing here. Still having not coloured my hair I don't understand why I ever did I really liked my natural colour.

This is the moment when I started to colour my hair, I went for red which I absolutely adored but it was such a pain in the bum to keep vibrant. Not only was it the hardest to up keep but it was the most difficult to get out of my hair afterwards. Scene fringe is still going strong...

Then I went onto a dark-ish brown but as you can see that red is still kicking through.

Going into my second year of uni I decided I wanted to have blonde hair, I was desperate for Lauren Conrad locks but that only lasted a couple of months because it was so damaging.

Little did I know that when I wanted my brunette locks back it needed more than just a cheap box dye, when you go from blonde to brown you have to go red before to put the pigment back. So I was left for months with my hair rejecting colour and a weird brassy tinge to it.

Then after months and months of trying to get my hair back into a healthy condition I got the blonde bug back.

It was completely white/grey. I absolutely adored the colour of it but being a natural brunette it was so hard and very expensive to keep up so this made me make a decision that I probably won't ever forget.

I got my hair coloured back to brown and cut it up to my ears, I remember walking home from salon in floods of tears. It was so much of a change from the white blonde hair I had loved but my hair was so damaged that the only way I was ever going to get it back to a healthy condition was to chop it all off and start from scratch.

After months and months of not using heat appliances on it and regular hair masks my hair had grown back to a healthy state and I got it coloured slightly darker as that is the shade that I like the most against my complexion.

I dabbled with ombre ends for a little while, this was last year and for the first time in years my hair was in good condition. It was also the first time I had ever really grown my fringe out, I just never quite felt like myself.

I decided to go a little shorter last October time, I absolutely loved having my hair blunt cut as it added a lot more body to my fine hair. By this point I had also had a full fringe snipped back in which made me like 'me' once again.

So here we are up to present-ish day. I'm so happy with my hair at the moment and I don't think I will ever really change it from this point on, I thought I might have grown out of the full fringe by this point but I still love it as much as I did the day I got it cut back in. My hair in the best condition its has been in for almost 10 years, throughout all those years of colouring it though I learnt a lot and it was so much fun.
