Battling Breakouts

As someone who has suffered badly with breakouts in the past, I know how important it is to have products in your stash that can help ease them. Although, there is more to taking care of your skin, than your skin care routine, it certainly helps matters when it comes to battling breakouts.

Cleanser: Whenever I'm dealing with a breakout or can feel one about to erupt, I always go back to a cleanser that I know doesn't irritate them. This is usually a gel or a cream cleanser, I've heard horror stories about gels, but it isn't the case at all, some of them can work amazingly well on spot prone skin. The one I'm using at the moment in the La Roche Posay Effaclar Cleanser*, I wouldn't use this every day as it's quite intense, but when used every couple of days it's been keeping my skin under control and any breakouts have healed quickly.

Toner: The marmite product of the skin care world is definitely toner, I'm a big fan of them. By using an exfoliating toner daily, it helps to resurface the skin which is perfect when dealing with breakouts. The Clarifying Toner* is incredibly gentle to the complexion, but very effective and helps to calm and heal any congestion or active breakouts.

Masks: I never thought something deep cleansing could help with breakouts, in fact I believed that they caused them. Regularly using something like the Aesop Parsley Seed Masque keeps my skin congestion free which means I'm a lot less prone to breakouts. If something has reared its ugly head, I will still reach for this just to make sure everything is drawn to the surface so the blemishes can clear quickly.

Treatments: I can already hear the skin care Gods screaming at me for using Sudocrem*on my spots, but it works for me. It helps to take away redness and stops them feeling a lot less painful, which is perfect for those hormonal spots that make your entire face hurt. An old faithful product is the Origins Super Spot Remover, this is great on those little white heads as it just dries them up and they're gone in no time.
