The Beauty Products That Have Made Feel Awesome Lately

-this post contains PR samples-

During this strange and scary time, I can’t say I’ve felt like applying a full face of make-up but there are plenty of other products that have bought a lot of joy to my days and made me feel a lot better. Taking a little bit of time out from each day to use something that makes me feel really good has been something that I’ve savoured. So, from hand wash to SPF these are all the products that I’ve loved lately.

pixi hydrating milk cleanser (gifted)

Pixi recently sent out a very generous parcel with all of their hydrating milky products in and my most loved so far have been the Milky Tonic and this cleanser. I’ve been using it in the AM and PM and it’s such a kind to the skin product. It’s unlike anything else I’ve ever used in terms of consistency and for this reason, it's a little difficult to get out of the tube but once massaged into the skin it melts down and feels so kind and gentle to the complexion. I’ve only ever used it on a bare face so I can’t speak on how it removes make-up but on a bare face it’s wonderful and I can imagine it would work well as a second cleanse after initial make-up removal. As I’m trying to properly introduce retinol in my routine I’ve been seeking more nourishing products to soothe the effects of that so this has been a great addition to my routine.

jurlique softening rose hand wash (gifted)

Like everyone else in the world, I’ve been more conscious of washing my hands than ever before. I’m only leaving the house right now to walk the dogs so I’m not actively touching anything apart from their leads but as soon as I get in I’m still washing my hands and I’ve been using this hand wash from Jurlique. This has been keeping my hands clean but really hydrated, I often find hand wash can dry my hands out horribly but this hasn’t and the rose smell is lovely and not too overbearing. In combination with my favourite L’Occitane hand cream, I’ve managed to avoid any cracking or dryness that I tend to suffer from especially around my nail beds.

L’occitane almond shower oil (gifted)

Typically, this is a product that I save for best but as I’ve needed a little bit of a pick me up I've been a little more liberal with it and this is my absolute favourite product to use when I need to shave my legs. I’ve spoken about it so many times before in beauty-related posts so just incase you’ve missed my many ramblings; it’s a beautiful marzipan scented oil that turns into a milk once massaged into the skin that creates the perfect surface for shaving. Of course, it’s beautiful to use otherwise if you’re not into shaving as it’s so kind and nourishing to the skin. Even though it’s a more luxurious body care item I find it lasts longer than most products in my collection as you only need a small amount.

bareminerals complexion rescue defence (gifted)

Whilst I’ve not been wearing make-up something that I’ve been more conscious of more than ever is making sure I’m wearing SPF every day whether I leave the house or not. A couple of years ago I started taking my facial SPF seriously and I’ve noticed a big difference in my skin in terms of texture and fine lines. Obviously, SPF isn’t an anti-aging product but it does help a lot with reducing the effects of ageing as well as protecting your skin from the sun. My current SPF of choice is the Complexion Rescue Defense from bareMinerals and it’s been perfect for daily wear. It not only gives my skin the protection it needs but it also helps to shield my skin from blue lights emitted from my tech as well as giving my skin a little bit of a luminous natural glow.

dove beauty sleep Melting Body balm (gifted)

This is undoubtedly the richest moisturiser I’ve ever used, it reminds me of a cleansing balm in its consistency as it’s so thick but it melts down beautifully and leaves my skin feeling incredibly nourished. I’ve been using it before bed as it suggests and I can’t deny the scent of it does feel so calming when I climb into fresh clean sheets to go to sleep. As it’s so thick it’s not something that you probably want to use when you need to get dressed afterwards as I imagine it might be a little too heavy to have clothes on top of. However, there is a lighter formulation if you're not into really rich products that is also absolutely lovely to use.
