Style Essentials For Being Warm But Well Dressed

Dressing in Winter is hard. Because you still want to look nice and well dressed but you have to be warm if you want to stay outside for more than 30 seconds. And there are ways to be both and you can be toasty warm without looking like the Michelin Man. So here are some of my all time favourite style essentials for being both this season.

COAT

It's pretty obvious that we're all going to be wearing a coat when the cooler months hit. Even though I absolutely adore my parka, North Face jacket and my new found love for the puffa jacket. I have to admit that they aren't always the most stylish pieces as they favour warmth over fashion. A stunning tailored piece is something that instantly makes you look more put together and like you've made the extra effort when in reality you've just put your coat on to keep you warm. Smart outerwear always makes me think they can't possibly keep you as warm as something like a parka but they can and they're really good for locking in the heat I've found.

CAMEL COAT, NAVY COAT AND BLACK COAT

SCARF

Scarfs are now oddly seen as more of a fashion accessory than something to keep you warm but in reality, they're both. I love to go for huge oversized scarves in the winter season as they not only add some interest to a relatively plain outfit but they can also keep you incredibly warm. And they can also double up as a blanket which is perfect.

GREY, RED, BLUSH AND GREEN

BRETON

Typically you would think the Breton is something geared more towards S/S than A/W but the right one can see you through all the seasons. Of course going for something paper thin is never going to keep you warm but the thick heavy weighty pieces which I personally favour do. I'm sure I don't need to share why I love the Breton so much with my regular readers at this point. But they're something you can put on with either a skirt or a pair of jeans and you instantly look put together and Parisian chic inspired.

NAVY, RED AND JUMPER

ANKLE BOOTS

Even though I prefer something like a loafer or a brogue it's not always wise to have your precious little ankles out so that's why ankle boots are the perfect winter essential. When you find the right pair they can compliment pretty much any outfit. And I've been absolutely loving to pair them with oversized knits and leather look leggings or with an a-line skirt. You can find them at any price point and so many different styles from leather [or faux] to suede which when finished with a protectant is my personal favourite.

BEIGE, BLACK CHELSEA BOOT, BLACK HEELED BOOT AND BROWN CHELSEA BOOT

JUMPER DRESS

I've saved my all time favourite well-dressed Winter style essential till last and it's the jumper dress. I love knitwear and would happily wear a dress every day of the year as they're just so comfortable. They're so easy to style as all you need is a good pair of tights [thermal ones are my favourite], your shoe of choice whatever that might be and a coat to finish the look and you're done. And not the mention the comfort levels of a jumper dress are supreme, so much room for a food baby.
