For When You've Been Crying

Crying isn't something I do very often and I can count on one hand how many times I've cried in the past two years. This weekend, however, it was like the floodgates opened and I just couldn't stop, pretty similar to that episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S when Chandler can't cry. So after an almighty sobfest my skin looked dire but by following up with these awesome products you wouldn't know I'd wept my Saturday afternoon away.

LIZ EARLE EYEBRIGHT SOOTHING EYE LOTION*: Whether I've been crying or not I like to douse this over two cotton rounds and lay with them over my eyes for a couple of minutes, like a nicer version of the classic cucumber trick. It removes any remnants of mascara that might be still lurking around with ease, without the need to rub at your sore peepers. Unlike most eye lotions it doesn't leave any oily film on the skin, just simply soothes the area and is an instant pick me up.

ANNE SEMONIN EXPRESS RADIANT ICE CUBE*: Puffy under eyes are the bain of my life, there is no amount of concealer in the world that can hide them away. These radiant ice cubs from Anne Semonin are a complete luxe product and something that you could DIY yourself, but they wouldn't contain the amount of skincare benefits that these little cubes do. They're packaged in little sachets that you freeze and then wrap in gauze and then lightly sweep around the eye area. A lovely albeit chilly experience but the results were pretty outstanding as the puffiness was instantly reduced.

ANTIPODES AURA MANUKA HONEY MASK: Whenever I'm in need of a deep gentle cleanse this is my go to mask. It's unlike anything I've used before as it doesn't settle into the skin and crack which isn't something I personally like. Instead, it's a gentle, almost lotion formula that hydrates and nourishes the skin as well as bringing any nasties to the surface. It's perfect for occasions like this when your skin needs some TLC as well as a good thorough cleanse.

DR JART WATER FUSE SURE GEL*: It's pretty much a given that when you've been crying your skin needs a big boost of moisture. Hyaluronic acid is my favourite way to do this, as it's incredibly lightweight on the skin and in the warmest of weather doesn't turn your face into an oil slick. This serum from Dr Jart is beautiful on stressed-out complexions as it's incredibly cooling (even better if you pop it in the fridge for 10 minutes before use). So not only does it replenish the moisture levels in my skin, it soothes and calms it at the same time.

THE BODY SHOP BOUNCY SLEEPING MASK*: Overnight masks have been a complete saviour for my skin this year and I love this option in particular for returning my skin back to its normal happy state. The formulation of this product is strange to say the least, it's like scooping up jelly and applying it to your face, so you only need a small amount of this mask to reap the benefits. It's jam packed full of my favourite wonder ingredient; hyaluronic acid, so once the AM arrives, your complexion looks instantly plumped and full of life once again.

What are your favourite products when you've been a little teary eyed?
