The Best Of My Beauty Routine Right Now

-this post contains PR samples-

At the moment when it comes to my beauty routine, I’m all about skincare, I barely wore make-up throughout February and I’ve probably never been so focused on my skincare routine and the products that I’m using as I am right now. A couple of these are old favourites that I’ve had in my routine for a long time and all the rest are new, brilliant additions that I can’t wait to share with you.

DRUNK ELEPHANT A PASSIONI RETINOL CREAM (PR SAMPLE)

Retinol is something that I’ve wanted to use for a long time, but honestly, I’ve felt a little scared of it. I’ve seen such horror stories of people having horrific peeling and their skin becoming incredibly sore and it put me off ever introducing it into my routine even though I knew it works wonders for brightening. In January I used this retinol from Drunk Elephant on a whim when I had a little bit of breakout and it worked wonders and brightened my entire chin area up incredibly well. At 1% it’s quite potent so probably not one to use if you aren’t used to retinol or any type of chemical exfoliant at all. It’s not something I've used all over my face at this point I must add as I didn’t feel ready for that. So I just decided to use it in the areas I feel I need the most help (my chin has always been a problem area for me) and I only struggled with a little bit of dryness and peeling which cleared up quickly. I use this whenever I’ve had any type of breakout that has healed as it just clears up the mark leftover incredibly well. As well as being able to diminish the appearance of breakouts and scarring this product has a whole host of skincare benefits like reducing the look of wrinkles and promoting the production of collagen.

lano lanolips 101 ointment (pr sample)

This has been my go-to evening lip balm (I use Fresh during the day) for well over a year now. I think this is the third tube I’ve made my way through in more recent years and I will 100% go back to using this when I’ve finished all my other balms. No matter what state my lips are in this always repairs them and makes them feel so soft and supple and alleviates dryness immediately. Not only is this great overnight but if it’s particularly cold you can use it as a protective layer on your lips to go outside with which when it’s frosty and bitterly cold outside is such a comfort.

ALPHA H BALANCING CLEANSER (PR SAMPLE)

Alpha H isn’t a brand I’m overly familiar with apart from their cult AHA Liquid Gold which I’ve used a couple of bottles of and loved what it did to my skin. Other than that I’ve not used all that much so my mind was pretty open to what their other skincare items were like so when this cleanser came into my life I was excited to try it and I'm utterly obsessed. I’m rather partial to rose skincare products anyway but this is so nice and calming on the skin, it’s a gentle cream that is so kind to the complexion that even when I’ve had slight makeup remnants it’s removed them so well with minimal effort. This cleanser isn’t mind-blowing and going to work miracles on the skin but it’s just a really lovely gentle product to use and something that I know I can use when I have breakouts and it won’t aggravate them at all. The inclusion of aloe vera is something I always enjoy in my cleansing products as it's such a gentle ingredient.

BEAUTY LAUNDERETTE WHIPPED BODY MOISTURISER (PR SAMPLE)

A new vegan and cruelty-free body care brand that has just been launched into Superdrug is Beauty Launderette and I’ve been using a few of their products lately and one of the standouts is the body moisturiser. I’m very into my moisturising routine as it’s something that helps me feel so much more confident in my body and if there is ever a time to moisturise my limbs it’s now when it’s so cold outside. This whipped moisturiser is nice, thick and almost fluffy in consistency but it melts into the skin so quickly without leaving any sticky residue and my limbs feel nice and nourished until the next day. For the price, it’s a great product to add into your body care rotation especially in the warmer months as it sinks in so fast.

nyx jumbo eye pencil (pr sample)

I’m sure I mentioned in a beauty post I wrote back in January that I’m really into eye shadow pencils at the moment and my love for them is still going strong. They’re so simple and easy to use if you’re not in the mood to spend ages applying a powder shadow. I’ve been using the NYX jumbo eye pencil in the shade yoghurt lately and obviously, it's a nice golden champagne shade that's very much in my comfort zone. The formula is one that if you have oily lids you will not like it because it is very soft but whilst my skin is a little drier I’ve been enjoying this underneath a shadow to create a more dimensional look or worn alone.

bareminerals good hydrations primer (pr sample)

Now I’ve finished my beloved Sanoflore moisturiser I’m very much into this primer again as I feel like it gives me similar results when I apply foundation. This provides a silky smooth nourished canvas without feeling slippery and it doesn’t eat up any other products you apply over the top which can often be an issue with super nourishing products. It’s got some awesome kind to the complexion ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin and coconut water as well as a slightly pearly finish which adds a hint of luminosity to the skin.
