November has been a month filled with the most wonderful occasions, my boyfriend turned 30, we got engaged and lots of other lovely days in-between. So, naturally, it’s been the month where I’ve worn the most makeup and this is my loved beauty products from the month so far and there are some real gems.

A product that I absolutely love to wear and never skip is eyeshadow. But, truth be told…I’m terrible at applying it and have absolutely no skills when it comes to creating a beautifully defined eye look and stick to one wash wonders. So that means I typically go for products that can easily be used alone which means they have to be the best of the best. It’s taken me a long time to find those products that work without question but I finally have and these are my favourites for the lazy girl who loves eyeshadow.
A couple of weeks ago I went back through my beauty archives and looked back through what I loved and used for many years and if I still use them now. I thought it would be interesting to do it with my skincare posts too as looking back I’ve written hundreds and hundreds of post on what products I was loving at the time. I never thought I would feel as passionate about skincare as I do make-up but to be honest, I think I love it even more. Taking good care of my canvas is incredibly important to me, especially as I’ve got older and realised just how much can affect it. I went into September feeling fresh and full of excitement as even though I’ve been out of education for seven years I still get that back to school feeling that the vast majority of us love. And I’m happy to say that I’m coming out of the month feeling the exact same way and I’ve got some great new beauty products in my rotation as well as two rediscoveries that I’m excited to share with you today.
For a long time, this little corner of the internet was 90% about beauty and my love for makeup and skincare is still something I write about now. And over the past eight years I’ve certainly tried a huge number beauty products and shared my thoughts on them, some of them I still use to this day and some I’ve not returned back to for one reason or another. So I thought today I’d go back through my beauty archives and see what I wrote about the most and how my relationship has changed with those products, some of you might have even been around for those first posts which is pretty incredible.

Apart from the couple of monthly hormonal spots that erupt on my chin, I’m happy to say that large painful to touch breakouts seem to be a thing of the past for me. Which I’m so incredibly thankful for, one of the reasons that this blog exists is because I was suffering from cystic acne and was so desperate to try and get rid of it. So to say I’m generally spot-free over 8 years later and that is not something I ever thought I’d be writing. Primer is one of those products that you use and love or you think is a waste of time. For me, it’s always something that I’ve been a fan of since I properly got into beauty a few years ago and it completely changed not only how my base looks but how they perform too. Over the years not only have I loved reaching for a primer when I’m wearing a full face of makeup but also when I’m going makeup-free too as they can give the complexion a boost with minimal effort. And these are my most loved primers for doing exactly that at the moment.

Having a freshly done manicure is something that makes me feel ready to take on the world. It doesn’t matter if I don’t have a scrap of makeup on and my hair resembles a birds nest, as long as I’ve got that manicure I instantly feel more put together and polished. Ever since I was a teenager I’ve always got so much joy from painting on different colours and it’s no different now I’m the grand old age of twenty-nine. These days I go makeup free for about 70% of the week and I can’t say that was ever something I imagined myself doing. Applying my most loved products is something that I absolutely adore doing and savour the time that I get to do it. But going makeup-free makes me just as happy these days. Feeling happy and free in my skin is a feeling that I never thought I’d be able to have but now I am I'm making the most of it. All that being said going makeup-free doesn’t mean skipping out on my beauty routine completely and these are my most loved products to apply when I’m foregoing makeup.
Once upon a time, I had a seriously great beauty routine and then life got in the way and I quickly became lazy and developed some bad habits. Habits that I’m sure we can all relate to but I’m currently trying to make myself some awesome new routines and kick those bad habits to the back of the bathroom cupboard.

I’ve been working some new beauty bits into my routine here and there for a while now. Gone are the days where I was trying something new nearly every other day, I’m much more precious about my skincare routine and there aren’t that many fresh beauty releases that come into my life. Which is a really good thing because I’m slowly working my way through everything I have which is exactly what I’m aiming for. Long gone are the days where I wanted a huge beauty collection. Now what I aim for is something so much more streamlined, it will never be a capsule beauty collection that’s for sure but I don't have 30 foundations anymore either, anyway here are my current beauty hits and misses.

The warmer weather is creeping back towards us and I am far too excited about it, not having to wear a coat and a scarf in May to walk the dogs is going to feel like such a luxury. Hair is the one topic that I find never performs that well in term of stats but it’s hands down one of my favourite things to write about. I recently made the decision to get rid of the balayage which is something that I’d spent a year putting into my hair and I returned back somewhat to my natural colour. Although it might not sound like it is a big deal, hair for me is one of those things that I take quite seriously as I have a somewhat complicated relationship with my tresses. It’s one of those things that is undoubtedly an awkward conversation but I do believe if we never talk about it then all that does is make people feel even more alone and isolated when they go through something similar. So here is an honest chat about hair as well as a round-up of the products I’m using right now.

Full coverage bases will always have my heart, at first, it was through necessity because I wasn’t confident enough with my skin when it was covered in spots and then scarring. But now I love the way they look and how they make me feel, I’m very much into the perfected skin look but I never want to look like I’ve applied a tonne of foundation and there is no sign of my natural skin at all.
