Everything That's Making My Life A Little Sweeter At The Moment

Whilst these posts are always a little weird to photograph because it’s such a random mix of items they are always my favourite to write as they feel like a conversation between friends. There are certain things that I either reach for daily or every few days and when I pick them up I always think to myself how grateful I am to have them in my life as they really do make it that much better. Which is why I wanted to share them in today’s post and of course, I want to know all about the items that do that for you in your life too.

The Beauty Products I Want To Rediscover This Year

2019 is the year that I am determined to work through my beauty stash properly. I no longer want to keep hold of anything for those ‘just in case’ moments and have a collection that really works for me. And whilst I don’t think I’ll ever be someone that only has one foundation or only one blush because I adore testing out things I do want to make sure I’m properly using everything I own. In 2016 & 17 I was very much on top of switching around the items I was using but I fell out of the habit of doing it last year and as we’re in January the time where we’re all probably trying to make a change here are products I’m adding back into my rotation.

5 Bloggers Who Remind Me Why I Started

Leading on from Monday’s post where I chatted all about why I think 2019 will be an awesome year to be a blogger I thought today I would share the people online who always inspire me to keep going and remind me why I started this whole blogging thing in the first place. When I first discovered the world of beauty blogging it all felt so new and magical, and even though it wasn’t new at all there was something so wonderful about it because it wasn’t really about money or the numbers. It was simply about people sharing things that they loved. And the world of blogging has changed in many so ways for the better but there are some things that I certainly miss about it from when I started but luckily there’s a handful of bloggers that balance it all perfectly and they are…

The 2019 Reading List

Read more has been written on my new year's resolution list for what feels like forever but this year I’ve taken it seriously. Reading is something that brings me so much joy and as I’m always trying to cut back on my phone usage picking up a good book is the way to do it. A few days on Instagram I asked for book recommendations and there were so many good ones that I thought I should share my own reading list for the year. I’ve set my Goodreads reading challenge at only 8 books as I don’t want to set myself up for failure and I’m pretty sure I only managed 3 books in 2018 so anything above that is an achievement and here are the books that I plan on reading this year!

My Capsule Wardrobe Plans For 2019

Something that I’m interested in more than ever before is style, it used to be the other way around where I wasn’t all that interested in what I was wearing but cared so much about beauty. Now I’m happy to go makeup free but something I do care a little more about is the clothes I’m wearing, even if it is just for walking the dogs I like to feel my best. And my wardrobe is something I’m always trying to change around and declutter which lead me to the topic of this post. Most of you will know that I don’t care for the traditional rules of the capsule wardrobe but something I am very interested in is keeping my clothing collection to a minimum. And this is the year that I really want to hone in on that so here are my plans for my somewhat capsule wardrobe in 2019.

Why I Think 2019 Will Be An Awesome Year To Be A Blogger

Happy New Year! And welcome to the first post of the year on From Roses and I’m hopefully starting as I mean to go on. 2018 was the year that everyone proclaimed that blogging was dead and I for one, definitely had a wobble and even wrote a post all about it back in the summer. After all, this is my job and my livelihood so naturally things like that will cause anyone to have a little bit of a meltdown. During the last 12 months, I've looked at my own relationship with blogging and had to ask myself some really hard questions as well as make sure I gave honest answers and I definitely do not think blogging is dying or going anywhere anytime soon. Sure, things have changed and there is no denying that and the traffic certainly isn’t what it used to be but dead? Absolutely not. So just in case, you’re also having a little bit of a wobble and a worry here is why I think 2019 is going to be a great year for blogging and how I’m going to keep myself inspired this year.

7 Of The Best Things That Happened In 2018

Every single year without fail I do a blog post like this and they really are my favourite to write. There is something so undeniably cathartic about rounding up the year into words and 2018 has been a weird year for me, in so many ways it’s been brilliant but then in others, it’s just felt a little odd and quite difficult in places. Either way, I’m so grateful that for another year I’m walking around with my health, a lovely home, a job that gives me so much more than just a pay-check, wonderful family and friends, a partner that I couldn’t be without and of course my two beloved little hounds. So here are all the highlights of 2018 and here’s to 2019, hopefully, there are a brilliant 12 months on the horizon.

How I'm Dealing With My Mental Health Right Now

A few weeks ago I wrote a post all about how I take care of my mental health in the colder months and when I wrote that post I said that I for once, wasn’t finding this time of year as difficult as I have done in the past. Granted, we are only just starting to get the cold weather so time will tell but something that I’ve not done in a while is done a general mental health update. For so long I believed mental health was something that was linear but it’s not at all and there are highs and lows and that’s ok, even though at the time it can feel devastating like you’ve lost all your progress it’s not the case. So here is how I’m currently dealing with my mental health at a time that I typically find incredibly hard.
