A Cleanser For Every Conundrum

Cleansers aren't something that I've ever really harboured that much of a love for. I can't deny it but I know the foundation of a good solid skin care routine is cleansing and there are certainly a few that I love for certain occasions. Of course, you don't need multiple cleansers but they're one of the only skincare products I think you can switch around without worry of it disrupting the balance of your complexion all that much. So here are my favourites whatever my skin might be doing that day...

A QUICK ONCE OVER

If I want a quick once over cleanse and don't have time to wash my face then I've got a new favourite to reach for. It's the Formula 10.0.6 Deep Pore Cleanser*. This is a line dedicated to troublesome skin which mine isn't but it can still be a little pesky. To be honest I can't quite figure out whether this is a micellar water or a chemical exfoliant. Either way, it makes my skin feel great, you can definitely feel it working away on the skin but it doesn't make it feel tight or irritated. I can imagine if you really have troublesome skin then this would work beautifully but if you have sensitive skin then it might be a little overwhelming. It's a great one to reach for if you find regular micellar waters can make you a little spotty in place of a proper cleanser as this aims to help breakouts.

A GENTLE CLEANSE

The REN EverCalm Gentle Cleansing Milk* has been a staple in my routine for a few months now and it's such a lovely cleanser. If you're someone who just wants a cleanser that will make the skin feel fresh and clean and is suitable for sensitive complexions and this is probably one to look into. It's so soothing and calming and when your skin is feeling stressed and sore from breakouts it's an absolute treat. Although it can't be used to remove the bulk of your makeup it can be used to get rid of any last remnants of product hanging around.

A LAZY GIRLS BRIGHTENER

I'm sure like most girls out there something I'm pretty dedicated to doing is making my skin as bright as possible. And one cleanser that does that with ease is the Pixi Mud Glow Cleanser* which is pretty much their cult Pixi Glow Tonic but in cleanser form. It's not one to reach for to remove your makeup but as a second cleanse or an AM cleanse it's wonderful and does nothing but good things to my complexion. As it does contain glycolic acid you do have to be careful with how often you use it and build up your tolerance. Within a couple of uses, I always notice my skin tone and texture is much brighter and smoother.

A LUXURY CLEANSE

To remove your makeup in possibly the most luxurious way that I know possible I absolutely love using an oil. And there are so many different oils that you can do with this from high-end luxe options to even just using pure coconut oil. My favourite is the bareMinerals Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil*, I'm actually on my second bottle of this which is when I know I really love something. It melts away makeup with ease and makes the skin feel hydrated and supple. Even when I'm not wearing any makeup I still like to reach for this sometimes as it feels truly wonderful and is incredibly comforting in the winter months when you're going back and forth from air conditioned environments.

A DOES IT ALL CLEANSE

If you're a fan of a double cleanse then the Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse* is a great no fuss or frills product. I was initially very sceptical and I can't say that I love the packaging at all but it's what's inside that matters after all. It's a two step system, a solid cleansing balm and then a cream cleanser. When I've been wearing a full face of makeup I remove the bulk of things with a micellar water, then go in with the balm and then finish up with the cream. The solid balm melts onto the skin removing every last scrap of product whilst the cream just makes the skin feel good. It's nothing too fancy but of course, coming from Caroline Hirons and Pixi you can only expect a really great cleanser that gets the job done.

A FAIL SAFE

Even though I've mentioned the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish* on this blog hundreds of times I just have to give it a mention. A classic cream formula that works no matter what the condition of my skin and keeps it happy and balanced all year round. It removes makeup, gives the complexion a thorough cleanse, hydrates and calms down any blemishes. No matter how many other cleansers I try and love I will always have a bottle of this in my collection because I can always rely on it.

A BRIGHTENING OPTION

For my final cleansing suggestion, I have to give a heads up to the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel*. I've not used this in a little while actually as I've been getting through other options but I know when I do I'll wonder how I ever stayed away from it. Having the word gel in the title is pretty misleading as it makes you believe it might be a little drying on the complexion but it's not at all and it melts into an oil when massaged into the skin. The pumpkin enzymes in this are such an amazing natural brightening agent and it never leaves your skin feeling stressed or sore, just happy, hydrated and seriously glowy.
