The Best Of My Spring Wardrobe

the best of my spring wardrobe

Normally I don’t pull my spring/summer wardrobe until the end of May as the weather in the UK is so unpredictable. But, this year we’ve had the most beautiful spring and I did the switch quite early in comparison to other years. All of my outfits are currently centred around comfort as well as being weather appropriate at the moment as the only time I’m leaving the house is to walk Josie & Edie. Even though it’s just a walk I’m still trying to put together outfits that make me feel awesome and these are all the pieces of my wardrobe that I can’t get enough of at the moment.

Barbour Breton

My love for a striped top and Barbour are two things that have been well documented on this blog. So, when I received this beautiful Breton as a birthday gift I was excited to see how it would compare to my other beloved stripes. It’s got that perfect boxy but flattering fit and the sleeves are more of a fitted style which I find is the perfect mix of cuts on a top like this as it’s still relaxed without being too oversized. Typically I go for cream/white with navy stripes but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the navy with white stripes a little more and it’s a colour that I’ve found myself gravitating toward in recent months.

Birkenstock arizona sandals

If there is one brand I truly never thought I’d be writing about its Birkenstocks but I guess this is 30 for you? Although truth be told, I’ve wanted some long before I turned the big three-oh but never quite had the confidence to wear them. I was in real desperate need for a sandal with some arch support as all mine are completely flat so have very little support to offer. I’m only a few wears in but I’m in love, they’re so comfy and even though I’ve had a little bit of rubbing (to be expected with leather soles) they're still so easy to wear. I can safely say this won’t be my only pair of Birkenstocks and I’m already eyeing up a white pair.

patagonia 1/4 zip better Sweater

Back in March (doesn't that month feel like a lifetime ago?) I finally found one of these 1/4 zip Patagonia sweaters on eBay brand new with tags and I was thrilled. For some reason, they’re not stocked on the UK website, which is such a shame as they’re such a lovely pullover. I’ve been wearing this most days with either a long-sleeved tee underneath or a little camisole and it’s the perfect mid-layer that I’ve never been able to find before. Patagonia is a brand that I’ve come to love over the last few years as not only do they create lovely practical outerwear pieces but they have a great sustainability act and that’s something that I’m trying to work towards more and more in my clothing choices.

superga trainers

My white Converse have needed replacing for a long time and I knew that I wanted a pair of Superga to go in their place. Whilst I love my Converse I wanted to try something different and I think for me the Superga style is a lot more flattering on my legs than my Converse ever were as they’re a little lower on the foot. A simple white trainer with minimal branding is such a staple in my wardrobe as they can be paired with just about anything. I’m a few wears in and they’re really comfortable, I've not had a single blister as they're my true size which is in the middle of a three and four. As they’re a flat-soled shoe they don’t have much in terms of support but I don’t find them uncomfortable for extended periods of wear.

arket striped dress

A long-sleeved Breton style dress is something that I’ve wanted in my wardrobe for a long time and for my birthday last year my sister kindly gifted me this lovely organic cotton number from Arket. I’ve been reaching for this a lot lately for the mornings where it’s still warm but there’s been a little bit of a chill, which let’s be honest is often in the UK. I love this either paired with my sandals or with my Superga, it’s so easy to throw on and feel good with really minimal effort. Whilst it might not be an obvious choice for the warmer seasons I find jumper dresses are a complete wardrobe staple for me.
