The Best Of Pixi Skincare

-all items in this post have been gifted over the years but this is not a paid partnership-

Pixi is a brand that I’ve adored for many, many years. It all started with their cult Glow Tonic and that’s still a product that I use daily and there are so many brilliant skincare and beauty products from the brand that I’ve now tried and fallen in love with. So, I thought I’d do a little brand round-up for you to share some of my most loved as well as a couple that haven't worked for me.

LOVES

PIXI GLOW TONIC (PR SAMPLE)

As this is the first product that I tried from the brand it only seems fitting that it's the first thing that I talk about in this post. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've probably used 15 bottles of this chemical exfoliating toner, it’s something that I’ve gone back to over and over again as whilst there are plenty of others exfoliating toners on the market that I’ve tried and loved nothing quite beats glow tonic for me. It’s a 5% glycolic acid which is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), it penetrates the skin and gently breaks down any dead skin cells which in turn reveals a brighter complexion and reduces the appearance of any scarring you might have. As it’s only 5% I find this gentle enough to use daily which suits my skin well but they do the Glycolic Peel Pads which are a stronger formulation. As well as containing glycolic acid it also contains aloe vera, glycerin, and ginseng which all create the perfect gentle exfoliant for me to maintain a bright complexion.

PIXI VITAMIN C TONIC (PR SAMPLE)

Typically vitamin c is something that comes in either a moisturiser or a serum, this is the first time that I’ve ever seen or used it in a toner and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. This has been brightening my sad and sallow winter skin up a treat and it’s ideal for using in the morning when either I’m not wearing makeup or popping on some of my favourite products over the top. It’s a gentle exfoliator with the inclusion of willow bark and various fruit extracts but it's a very gentle exfoliant. Despite being more of an exfoliator I still find this leaves my skin feeling fresh and plump, definitely, one to look into if you want a gentle brightening step to your morning routine.

PIXI T-ZONE PEEL-OFF MASK (PR SAMPLE)

Whilst I adore what face masks do to my skin there is no denying that I don’t love the application process of them, it often feels like there is a lot of mess and waste involved when using a mask. Peel-off masks are something that I’ve started to use more and more over the past couple of years and this one is perfect if you want the benefits of using a mask without all the faff and it’s oh so satisfying to peel off although if you have a super sensitive complexion I would be careful using something like this. This is something that I’d either use in the morning for a quick refresh or at night as part of my evening routine as it’s not something you need to leave on for ages to see the benefits. It’s a pore purifying mask so it’s something I reach for if I notice that I’m particularly congested around my nose and chin area which is where I tend to struggle the most with congestion. I don’t find it at all drying after removal and my skin feels happily balanced in-fact which is not always the case when using something clarifying.

pixi vitamin-c juice cleanser (pr sample)

I’m trying to minimise my use of micellar water at the moment so I can use a little less cotton wool but for when I’m going to the gym in the morning this is the perfect option. It’s very similar in ingredients to the Vitamin-C tonic so it delivers those same lovely brightening results but it also gives a gentle cleanse too and is a wonderful option if you’re feeling a little lazy. Personally, I don’t use cleansers like for my only cleanse but for a quick freshen up ( I don’t use it to remove make-up) it’s really wonderful and the packaging is fantastic too. It’s one of those where you pop a cotton round on top and pump down and it disperses onto the round with minimal mess. After I’ve used all this cleanser up I will be decanting other products into the bottle.

past loves

pixi double cleanse (pr sample)

The creator of this cleanser is Caroline Hirons, the queen of the double cleanse herself and this is a fantastic product if you want something simple but effective. The packaging isn’t my favourite as I find pot cleansers can get a little grubby and the ratio of the cleansers was a little off for me personally but I cannot fault the formula. The solid balm removed make-up with ease and then the cream nourished my skin whilst removing any last bits of make-up. It’s everything that you want from a double cleanse really and something I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

pixi mud cleanser (pr sample)

I absolutely adored this cleanser, it contains 5% glycolic like my beloved Glow Tonic and it worked wonders on my skin when I was a little spotty. The combination of the aloe vera and glycolic acid is perfect for when you are feeling a little spotty as the glycolic sloughs away at any dead skin cells and the aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, and avocado oil are all super kind to the complexion. I wouldn’t use something like this to remove make-up but as a second or morning cleanse it was fantastic.

pixi rose tonic (pr sample)

Typically rose toners aren’t that effective, they’re lovely to use but don’t really deliver any big results. I’m pretty certain it’s down to the inclusion of elderflower in this that makes it so beautifully soothing and it’s one that I loved using when my skin was feeling a little angry and breakout-prone. It’s not a product that is a must-have by any means but it really is lovely to use in the AM, so soothing and kind to the complexion.

products that didn’t work for me

pixi glow tonic cleansing gel (pr sample)

I’m not sure if maybe I’ve got a bad one of this but the consistency is quite watery and once I’ve put this on my skin I don’t feel like I can feel it at all which is really disappointing. I’m still using it in the morning just to finish it up but I can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference in my skin when using this. The only good thing about this is that it’s really refreshing upon application but that is the joy of a gel cleanser, long gone are the days when they’re super drying and stripping to the skin.

pixi make-up melting cleansing cloths (pr sample)

Make-up wipes, in general, aren’t something that I find myself reaching for. They are very handy to have close by in case of emergency though and if I’m out all day then they’re something I pop in my bag for a just in case moment. When it came to using these I found they were incredibly dry and there is nothing worse than a dry face wipe, they don’t do anything obviously because they are so dry.

are you a fan of pixi? what’s your favourite product?
