A few of my favourite things in January
January has to be one of the most miserable months known to man, the weather is dire and everybody is just generally a little grumpy. This month might have been one where the purse strings have been pulled tightly shut but thanks to some very generous Christmas gifts I have found some absolute gems in the past few weeks. Although generally January is pretty miserable I have actually been quite happy I gave From Roses a well deserved re-design as well as bumping up my posting schedule to 6 times a week which seems to be going down ever so well with you guys anyway onto the beauty bumf.
Good hair days seem to becoming more and more frequent for me lately and I can only put that down to what products I am using. I talked about my love for the ghd Style Total Volume Foam* in this post here and I have been using it every time I wash my hair, it creates a nice bounce without leaving my hair sticky or crispy. I have also been using the Bumble and Bumble Grooming Creme just smoothed through the ends before blowdrying and this creates such a smooth finish which is something I struggle to achieve for on the ends. I could have probably included the whole Laura Mercier almond & coconut milk line but the body créme in particular is just delicious. I am a big fan of anything almond anyway as I try to make myself smell as much like an edible treat as much as possible but the way this makes my skin feel is absolutely beautiful. I dabbled in gel manicures this month (post coming soon) but when I wasn't donning one of those I was wearing Essie Aperitif, the most perfect true red shade I have found to date. As with all Essie polishes the wear time is solid and application is made easy with the creamy formula and fool proof brush.
The Origins Drink Up Intensive mask seems to be a product that I fall more and more in love with as the weather gets colder. At first I was really unsure on this mask I thought it was too heavy for my skin but I have learnt that if only applied on my nose and chin which are my main problem areas, as my nose can get really dry and de-hydrated and my chin is prone to spots and scarring it's fine. On the nights that I apply this my skin glows the morning after, I use it every few days just to keep things check and as I only use a small amount it will take me a long time to get through this tube. A new base has stole my heart lately in the form of the Rimmel Match Perfection, if you missed me raving about it in this post then let me give you a quick overview. It gives a medium to full coverage that is easily buildable and leaves an almost satin like finish to the skin, the lasting power is on the best I have found for a reasonably inexpensive foundation too. I hadn't ever tried anything from NYX before but this single shadow* in 'Sahara' came in Januarys Love Me Beauty box and although these shadows are quite chalky and do have fall out but I just think the colour is so pretty and it is something I have used daily. Next recently started to stock NYX so I will definitely be going to have a look and see what else might catches my eye. Finally is the Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid I have had this sitting around for so long but I recently moved it to my desk where I knew I would be applying it more frequently. My love for the Dior Creme de Rose is pretty unrivalled but I have been reaching for it over my Dior and that means only one thing and a new lip balm love affair has begun.
