Beauty Staples

If all of my beauty stash suddenly disappeared I would be pretty sad about it I tell you obviously life would go on but still. I've learnt through the years of using different products which ones work for me and which ones don't and aren't a necessity for me anymore. I try and keep things sort of minimal as I don't like to hoard products as they are just going to go to waste and out of date. Obviously if I wanted to I could strip everything back down to the very basics that I need day to day and I used to be like that all my make up and skincare once lived a cosmetics bag. However I'm a beauty lover and I love trying out new things and having some variance but there are some products that are complete staples to me and I don't like to be without.

I've had quite a different method with my routine this year and I've stripped a lot of things out and gone down to a more carefully considered bunch of products. A cream cleanser is something I know I can always rely on whatever the state of my skin, I like balms and gels but I find them to work a lot better depending on the time of year. Two of my favourites are the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and the Organic Surge Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser*. Toner is something that in my routine is an important step and especially the use of a chemical exfoliant, I discovered these last year and they have dramatically changed the condition of my skin. I'm currently using the Pixi Glow Tonic and I think this is one that I will probably stick to from now as it the best for value for money.

Along with chemical exfoliants the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +* has completely changed my skin too and the new formulation is even better than the original. This really minimises my pores and my complexion looks so much fresher whilst the scars from spots are practically gone which is a big skin concern of mine.  Moisturiser is something that is vital not only on my face but the rest of my body too and lately I've been using the Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Cream*. This has completely blown me away lately as it has really helped to hide any redness and giving me a serious boost of hydration too.

Whilst most girls would say concealer is their best friend for me it is definitely foundation, I always like to try out new ones and switch up how much coverage I'm using. Recently I've been going completely bare faced to let my skin breath but on the days I do wear make up I get so much joy from applying my base. As somebody with more oily skin I do like to use powder to just make sure everything is set into place and to help my base last all day. Lately I've re-discovered the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural which is an oldie but a goodie. I'm a blush girl through and through it is what I really rely on to help bring light to my complexion and it is something that I never go without, the same goes for mascara too and even if I wore nothing else I will always slick some on just to open my eyes up. My love for lip balm is not a well kept secret and especially those of a tinted variety as most days I am not feeling a lipstick. I really love the Korres Lip Butters, Lanolips Lip Ointment* and Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm as they all have good colour range and variance in formulation too depending on my needs.
