The Best Transitional Wardrobe Pieces

Before we know it we'll be changing seasons and heading into Autumn and I personally love having pieces in my wardrobe that can transition me through happily when we go through unpredictable periods of weather.  Here are 5 of my favourite transitional wardrobe pieces that can be adapted for each season.

TRENCH COAT

I could write an entire post on why I think everyone should have a trench coat in their wardrobe but I'll spare you my ramblings. They have the ability to go through every season with ease and dress up any type of outfit instantly. There aren't many outfits that the classic trench doesn't go with and it's a fail safe way to exude Parisian chic. They are available at so many price points as well as different cuts, lengths and colours that you're bound to find one that suits you. I picked mine up from Amazon last year and to this day it's the best bargain I've ever found at a mere £13.

DENIM A LINE SKIRT

Last year the denim skirt came well and truly back into style. And even though I'm a big fan of the traditional a-line skirt I never thought a denim one would be something that I'd get so much wear out of. They can be worn in a smarter fashion with a shirt and loafers or for a more casual look with a cute t-shirt and some sandals. They're great for transitioning through different seasons as the denim makes them a little warmer at the end of the summer months the beginning of Autumn.

LOAFERS

I'm a big believer that a good pair of loafers can last you years if you take care of them properly. As I'm not much of an ankle boot fan I always go for the classic loafer style and I think that they look lovely paired with an a-line skirt and thick woolly tights. They're an item that can be worn with just about anything too and are a great way to smarten up any type of outfit.

classic shirt

Shirts were always something that I struggled with until I discovered the Oxford Shirt. They have a lot more of a relaxed fit than your standard classic shirt which makes them a lot more flattering if you have a petite frame as they don't look so boxy. Whether it's summer or winter you can find a way to style a shirt. They look awesome with skirts, shorts, jeans, tailored trousers, pinafores and just about anything else you can think of. And they are of course are a great layering item as in the really cold months you can wear a thermal t-shirt or vest underneath for extra warmth.

SWEATSHIRT

I think the classic sweatshirt gets a bit of bad rap. Even though it's a pretty relaxed piece you can wear this in so many different variations that it's a great item to have in your wardrobe. I think any item that you can layer on top of other pieces or over them for extra warmth is a worthwhile investment. Personally, I love to style them with smarter or more statement pieces in my wardrobe like coated jeans or with a shirt underneath as it completely changes how a typically casual piece can look.
