What To Do When Social Media Isn’t Making You Feel Good
From the title, I know what you’re probably thinking but don’t worry this isn’t another post telling you that social media is evil, think of this as more of a cautionary tale. As I'm a human who absolutely loves social media and all the things that it’s done for my life, after all without it I wouldn’t be sitting at home typing out this post for you to hopefully enjoy. But, I’m also not someone who doesn’t acknowledge that when used incorrectly it can be incredibly detrimental to our mental health and can have serious consequences. And over the past year I really have fallen into a bad pattern of behaviour with social media and here is what I’m doing to not only fall back in love with it but prevent myself from doing the same thing all over again.
An Office Refresh For Spring
The idea of rearranging and redecorating my office had been on my mind for a while, the room was painted white years ago and apart from buying furniture nothing else had been touched in the room. But, the conversation of buying a new house was one we were having a lot so I put off doing anything for a while just in case we did seriously decide to move as obviously, there was no point in redecorating only to leave it a few months later. After we came to the conclusion a couple of months ago we weren’t quite ready to move (I wasn’t ready to leave the beautiful bathroom we’d only just had fitted either). The urge for change got stronger and stronger, and after lots of scouring Pinterest and scrolling through Instagram, I finally settled on what I wanted and here is how I’ve refreshed my office just in time for Spring.
Your Weekend Reading, Watch & Listen list #6
I’m not one to wish away time but if storm Gareth could please bugger off I’d really appreciate it. I hope everyone has had a great week despite the awful winds and rain? March seems to be flying by, why is that January seems to last for years but then all the other month's whizz by at an alarming rate? Anyway, forgive all my weather and time chatter. Here is this weeks read, watch and listen list for you to make your way through this weekend!
An Honest Chat About Hair & What I'm Using Right Now
Hair is the one topic that I find never performs that well in term of stats but it’s hands down one of my favourite things to write about. I recently made the decision to get rid of the balayage which is something that I’d spent a year putting into my hair and I returned back somewhat to my natural colour. Although it might not sound like it is a big deal, hair for me is one of those things that I take quite seriously as I have a somewhat complicated relationship with my tresses. It’s one of those things that is undoubtedly an awkward conversation but I do believe if we never talk about it then all that does is make people feel even more alone and isolated when they go through something similar. So here is an honest chat about hair as well as a round-up of the products I’m using right now.
S/S Capsule Wardrobe Plans
The irony that I’m sat writing this and snow is falling from the sky is almost too much to handle. I admit, my excitement for warmer weather is a little pre-emptive this year as we had that freak heatwave (a serious reminder that global warming is very much a serious threat) a couple of weeks ago. And after getting a taste of warmer weather it got me itching to pull out my pretty midi dresses as well as add a few more pieces to my wardrobe. I created a little capsule wardrobe post for A/W and it worked really well for keeping my spending on track so here is the S/S instalment.
What's Worth The Read & What's Not
Books are the one area of my life that I never try and declutter. From as long as I can remember I’ve longed for a library like that scene in Beauty & The Beast. Obviously, that is never going to happen but I do like to have my most loved books around me. I’m currently working on giving the ones I know that I will never read again to charity but I do keep the majority of the books I buy as they’re all so special to me. Anyway, today’s post is one that I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while as I know that I for one am terrible for falling into the trap of book hype and quite often they’re not all they’re cracked up to be.
14 Things You Might Not Know About Josie & Edie | AD
-this post is a paid collaboration with James Wellbeloved-
If you’re a dog lover like myself then you will know that the world-famous Crufts is taking place this week and into the weekend! Now, as much as I adore my little sighthounds, Josie and Edie I can’t say they’re so well trained that I could be running around the ring with them anytime soon. However, if I had my own little version of Crufts or Scruffts (my personal favourite part of the world-famous event apart from the hound round obviously) this is what Josie and Edie would take the winning prize for…
A Minimal Make-up Medley I Can Get On Board With
-this post contains gifted items-
Full coverage bases will always have my heart, at first, it was through necessity because I wasn’t confident enough with my skin when it was covered in spots and then scarring. But now I love the way they look and how they make me feel, I’m very much into the perfected skin look but I never want to look like I’ve applied a tonne of foundation and there is no sign of my natural skin at all. However, on the days I don’t have a lot of time but still want to apply products to boost my confidence a little then I will reach for something that’s simple to apply but still makes me feel awesome and this is the current minimal makeup medley I’m into.
Podcasts To Inspire You For The Week Ahead
I’ve kicked my daytime Netflix addiction to the curb when it comes to work days. Anyone will know when you work from home just how easy it is to stick something on in the background to keep you company, and sometimes I’ll allow myself to have something on if I’m working late or it’s the weekend. But during the day in the week, I stick to listening to podcasts only now because not only do they still keep me company but they usually inspire me a lot when it comes to work and here are some of the best episodes of my most loved podcasts that I’ve listened to.
