Everything That I've Stopped Buying To Become A Little More Minimalistic
My attitude towards spending money has changed so much over the course of writing this blog. In the beginning, I had a horrible relationship with money and thought by spending every penny I had that would mean I would be happy and surprise surprise that wasn't the case. And over the years I've made so much progress with changing the mindset that I have towards money, it's no longer the route to my happiness and I no longer have that shopping itch that I constantly need to scratch. This year I've really worked hard at consuming less in my life and taking a way more mindful approach to the things that I do buy. And there are so many things I've found myself not buying anymore...
5 Things That Have Improved My Mental Health Long Term
Over the past year or so I've been much more open about my mental health struggles and 2017 has been a big turning point for me. I've found a few things that have really worked for me and haven't just been a quick fix. And of course, it goes without saying that we all deal with things differently and what works for me will never work the same way for anybody else and just like everything else in life, it's important to take things with a pinch of salt. Anyway, I always love to read what other people have found helpful for their mental health, especially if those things aren't therapy or medication as neither of those things are something I've had much success with.
A New Base Combination That's Perfect For A Tricky Season
Now we're out of the summer months and we no longer have to worry about our makeup sliding off then we can start to try and prep for an even trickier season in my opinion. I'm such a sucker for trying out different base combinations and discovering what products work in harmony with each other and I've discovered an awesome combination lately that I've been thoroughly enjoying and most importantly it's been working. As the seasons have obviously shifted and the temperature is dropping by the day it can cause even the calmest of skins to freak out a little. So here are the products that are working beautifully in this tricky period and providing what I consider the perfect base.
All The Style Pieces You Need To Keep Really Warm This Winter
For far too many years I dressed so impractically all in the name of FASHUN. But fast forward a few years and way too many self-inflicted colds later [seriously, I was lucky that's all I got] I take my A/W dressing very seriously. As my life doesn't call for that many occasions where I need a nice dress and smart coat my wardrobe is geared towards being outdoors and staying seriously warm. And this year as I have a little pup in my life who loves nothing more than running around the woods whatever the weather [apart from torrential downpours, thankfully she hates them]. So this year I've pulled out all the stops for my A/W wardrobe and here are a few of my style essentials for keeping really warm...
My Favourite Shades To Reach For In A/W That Aren't Red
It's probably fair to say that the blogging world is rife with transitional beauty posts right now and typically we all gravitate towards the same things when the season rolls around. And don't be fooled, I love a good sparkly eye and red lip as much as the next girl but realistically for day to day I'm not going to be slicking on that powerful red hue. But when the cooler seasons do roll around I do like to switch things up a little, of course, you don't have to and if you want to go into the season still wearing all the peach shades you can lay your hands on then be my guest. However, if you do want to switch things up but not go down that traditional red and berry route here are some of my favourite shades right now.
6 Things I'm Doing To Avoid Being Overwhelmed & Burnt Out
Feeling overwhelmed isn't something that is always a negative thing, sometimes it can come from a really positive place. But that doesn't always mean it feels that way and it can feel like your brain is caving in. And a feeling that isn't too far away from feeling overwhelmed is being burnt out. Which is far from positive but the two things have one thing in common and that is that they usually lead me to end up doing absolutely nothing. And of course, that only adds to the intensity of the feeling so here are a few ways that I've been avoiding becoming burnt out lately and dealing with a sense of overwhelm.
3 Simple Steps To Making A Place Really Feel Like Home
In May I finally moved out to live with my boyfriend and I've been finding it a little tough to really make where I live to really feel like home. Living with my parents and then in rented accommodation throughout university meant that I wasn't allowed to do exactly as I pleased with my living space. My boyfriend and I have got completely free reign to do exactly as we please with our house which we both know is such a luxury and there are endless possibilities of what we're able to do with the space. However, the house we have is a fixer upper and whilst we have got to save to big jobs like replaster walls, install a new bathroom and put in new floors we've also wanted to invest in the areas that we are able to and add in pieces that are high quality, long-lasting and most importantly a reflection of who we are as a couple as this is the first home that we've had together.
3 Awkward Topics That Girls Never Like To Talk About
In the past, I've shared plenty of awkward beauty topics that we face but something that I've never spoken about are the awkward subjects that females face. And there are a plethora of them so here is a little conversation about the main ones that I believe are the most uncomfortable to talk about.
A Touch Of Autumn & Something New For The Season
Something that my boyfriend and I didn't add to our home for a really long time was a dining table. You know what it's like when you've just moved and you're trying to get everything in at all once and a table just wasn't a priority to us. But now it's been a little while and the festive season is upon us we want to get ourselves off the sofa and create a real dining area for us and here is how we're making a start with the help of Murmur*.
