How To Make Sure Your Environment Always Smell Delicious
You know you're officially an adult when you really care how your environment smells and spend your time perusing reed diffusers and candles. I think it was during my university years that I really delved into the world of candles and then in recent years I've looked into other avenues of making my space smell as delicious as possible. There is just something so lovely about stepping inside and smelling that sweet scent of home. And there are so many options out there but these 4 methods are my fail-safes.
Soft Focus Skin Filters
Some like to go for a dewy skin and some like the matte look, but me, I like the soft focus effect. You know the one where you look like you're walking around with a dimly lit softbox constantly focused on you or you've found a wonderful Instagram filter that still allows you to look like yourself but just a little bit softer. And there are some really lovely priming and powder products that can help you achieve this look. Even when I'm not wearing makeup I'm likely to reach for them to add that softness to my skin as well as blur any imperfections without the use of any concealing products.
6 Style Pieces I Can't Get Enough Of Right Now
Whilst I'm still thoroughly enjoying dressing for the cooler seasons I thought I'd share some of the pieces that I'm really into right now. The novelty of bundling up in your favourite knits soon wears off and by the time February rolls around I'm always itching to ditch the knits and don my prettiest summer dresses. So here are the 6 style pieces that I cannot get enough of right now.
The Beauty Tech & Tools I Use Every Day
The beauty tech & tools that I use practically every day don't get much love from me on this blog. Which is strange when I think about it because without them my routine wouldn't be anywhere near as good. And as much as I love reading about pretty beauty products I have a soft spot for beauty tech and these are my all-time favourites.
7 Awesome Things To Appreciate This Season
Even though the winter blues always hit me pretty hard this year has felt a little different. I've found myself appreciating everything the season has to offer a little more. As I know I'm not alone with my dread for the 3pm sunsets I thought I would share my favourite things about the season.
5 New In Beauty Products & 4 Rediscoveries
When it comes to the cooler seasons and trialling beauty products everything feels so much more difficult. There are so many more hurdles for them to jump over so when I discover and adore a product in winter I know it's truly awesome. I've discovered 5 new awesome products lately and then rediscovered 4 that I'd already got in my collection and not used in a little while.
The Difference A Year Can Make; Why I Wanted To Give Up & Why I Didn't
Even though we're technically not at the end of the year yet this is a post that I've been itching to write for a while. I always find myself looking back and reflecting at this time of year, mostly when I'm procrastinating but taking the time to look back can be a really good thing. I've not been shy to share that I've had my low point this year as well as so many highs so I wanted to tell you the difference that a year has made in my life. As when I look back to my life this time last year I was coming out an extremely bad depression and wanted to give up. I had no drive to do anything, I felt frustrated with where my life was and the things that were going on it and how much time I was wasting worrying about things. I hate the whole new year new me crap because it's absolute garbage, wherever we are we're good enough and every single day we have the chance to change the things that we're able to control and try our hardest to be at peace with the things that we can't. 2017 has seen so many changes in my life and when I look back to last year I wish I could tell myself that things were going to change and I wasn't going to feel that way forever. Because that's the thing about mental health struggles when you're in the throws of it you can never see a way out.
7 Things That I've Decluttered Lately
One of my biggest guilty pleasures in life is either watching time lapses of people cleaning in YouTube videos or finding out the things that people choose to declutter. And this year has been the year of decluttering for me, not only because I've moved house but also because my relationship with material items has changed so much. Don't get me wrong, I still absolutely love things and you probably wouldn't believe me if you looked into my office but it's a big change from what I used to be like. Anyway, here are the things that I've decluttered lately from beauty products to notepads.
5 Hydration Heavyweights
We all know that we're in the season where we have to amp up our moisture levels. And it's all too easy to believe that means slathering a thick rich cream onto the skin and hoping for the best. But over the years, and my skin always freaking out and feeling like it's going to crack if I dare to use my facial muscles I've learnt there are many ways to give the skin the hydration that it desperately wants without going for the obvious options. It's particularly chilly here right now, as I type this there are a good few inches of snow on the ground which means I've got to reach for my hydration heavyweights.
